It is absolutely essential that a broom head must be clean. Any dirt that lies between the fabric fiber impedes the fabrics friction which in-turn decreases the heat generated. Which brush head would you prefer to use ?

Adult Learn to Curl is back for another season!

This 8 week program, beginning on October 21, 2024, is designed to provide new curlers with a fundamental knowledge of curling as well as on-ice instruction for both standard and stick curling delivery.

Each 2-hour weekly session will take place Monday evenings from 7:30 – 9:30 pm and will be supported by experienced, friendly and enthusiastic instructors as well as a very low instructor/student ratio i.e. 1: 4 ensuring that participants are actively engaged during the on-ice programming. We have three sheets of ice available and registration will be limited to 28 participants.

Registration fees ($210 includes HST) includes the cost of two new grippers and a slip-on slider. In order to receive the correct size slider in a timely fashion, we will need to know your shoe size and hand dominance (right or left-handed). All participants will be able to use club stabilizers or curling delivery aids ensuring greater balance & control.

Off-ice instruction/discussions will take place prior to on-ice training and is generally limited to 15–20-minute sessions.

The program will kick off with an orientation on Monday, October 7th, from 7:30-9:30 pm in the lounge. Monday, December 16th will be a social wrap up event.

Participating in an ALTC program is an excellent way to help you step into club membership and to transition to league play at RKCC.

Curling is for everyone. Whether you are 5, 95 or somewhere in-between.
Curling is for you!

Curling has a long and rich history. While its origins are lost in the mists of time, Scottish curlers already were playing the game by the beginning of the 16th century on frozen ponds and lochs.

Their earliest equipment included stones formed by nature, each one unique. These stones often curved, or "curled," as they slid down the ice, and the players used besoms or brooms to clear snow and debris from the path of the stones.

Today, curling is a game of strategy, finesse and strength, contested by teams generally comprised of four players. The principle of curling is simple - get your stone closer the center of the target circles, called the "house," than your opponent. Players of all skill levels can participate and compete even at older ages than most sports allow.

Respect, honor and tradition are core elements of the game. Curlers are close knit and you can rely on a warm welcome in curling clubs throughout the world. Camaraderie among players is inherent in the sport and tradition calls for both teams to sit together after a game, discussing what was and what might have been.
