On July 1, 2019 the Ontario government enacted a concussion safety law - Rowan’s Law. Effective that date RKCC must:
CONCUSSION AWARENESS

- Not register an individual under the prescribed age (currently that age is under 26) unless they have reviewed the concussion awareness resources that are available via the Government of Ontario
- Require the individual to give confirmation that they have reviewed the concussion aware resources
- If that individual is under 18 years of age, the parent or guardian must also give confirmation they have reviewed the concussion awareness resources
- Coaches and other officials must give confirmation that they have reviewed the concussion awareness resources
CONCUSSION CODE CONDUCT

- Establish a concussion code of conduct that satisfies the requirements set out in the regulations
- Not register an individual under the prescribed age (currently that age is under 26) unless they have reviewed the concussion code of conduct policy and require the individual to give confirmation that they have reviewed the concussion code of conduct policy
- If that individual is under 18 years of age, the parent or guardian must also give confirmation they have reviewed the concussion code of conduct policy
- Coaches and other officials must give confirmation that they have reviewed the concussion code of conduct policy
- Ensure that its concussion code of conduct is made available to individuals referred to above
