Rowan's Law for Concussion Safety

It is mandatory for RKCC as a sport organization to:

• ensure that athletes under 26 years of age, parents of athletes under 18, coaches, team trainers and officials confirm every year that they have reviewed Ontario’s Concussion Awareness Resources
• establish a Concussion Code of Conduct that sets out rules of behaviour to support concussion prevention
• establish a Removal-from-Sport and Return-to-Sport protocol

At RKCC this means that:

If you are a curler under 26 years of age effective October 1^st or a parent/guardian of a curler under 18 years of age effective October 1st the rules of Rowan’s Law apply and before registering for curling, you must:

1. review the Concussion Awareness Resources and
2. review RKCC Concussion Code of Conduct and
3. confirm by providing signed copies of both forms

In order to comply with this new law, RKCC needs you to:

1. Please read one of the following Concussion Awareness Resources for your age group:
   • Ages 10 and Under
   • Ages 11 to 14
   • Ages 15 and Up
     
     
2. Read both copies of the following documents. Then please print and sign both documents. If you are registered in the Junior league, both copies must be provided to the Junior league convenor. If you are under twenty six years of age, effective October 1^st, then both copies must be provided to the manager at the curling club. 

   The signed forms will be digitally stored in your member profile and must be renewed at the beginning of each season.
